Artists Statement / Bio

Norbert Waysberg has been at it a long time. Both today, and in general. His studio is comfortable and soft, and rough; the textures of ancient decay cleaned dirty, now sweapt bare. Ancient scuff marks, worn deep with bristles from infinite brooms, those stoddy soldiers who gave their lives, who slowly ground their floor to dust.

So it is with Norbert’s paintings. His brushes, the ancient idea-forms of broom itself, are worn down. Only the idea remains. Plato’s hope made flesh.

Decay is everywhere in Norbert’s paintings. Not Decay herself, but the idea that every moment is fleeting, worthy of capture, that we should be happy. And then, simultaneously, impossiply! each of Norbert’s pieces evoke the worryless care free attitude of ‘que sara.’
