ARTIST STATEMENT / BIO

"My latest work displays images that project the complex integrity of our contemporary world. These new reflections explore universal concepts such as life, ancient roots and power relationships using figurative techniques to represent known sources such as the totem poles of the pacific northwest, pop culture and classical painting.  In choosing this style of composition, I create layers of meaning where human anatomy, cartoons and animal features are fused in order to project the interconnected ideas that influence our times. I am using this pictorial format as a vehicle to illustrate those forces that may act as undercurrents in our social and political discourse. As a result, these "Totems" deliver direct statements that speak of human interests and how they are affected by surrounding environments".

Enjoy!
